Synopsis

The beginning of Light Magic and the Hero, an otome RPG, unfolds fairly normally: the heroine, Alicia Ehnleit, meets her three love interests one after another and then inevitably comes face-to-face with the villainess. Yumiella Dolkness may be of noble descent, but her dark hair and rare dark-type magic—both associated with the Demon Lord—spark fear in anyone who sees her. When she is five years old, Yumiella regains memories of her previous life in modern Japan, also realizing that her fate is to become the hidden boss that appears after Alicia and her suitors defeat the Demon Lord.

Yumiella refuses to live as the game dictates and, as she prefers the game's fantasy elements over its romance, she decides to cultivate her magical skills and level up in secret. However, everything falls apart on the day of the Royal Academy's entrance ceremony. Yumiella's powers are measured at level 99—something thought impossible even for the royal knights, let alone a 15-year-old girl. With the royal family requesting her help, and everyone else insisting that she prove her strength, Yumiella realizes that her dream of a quiet life is no longer an option.

A surprisingly good show.

Coming into this show, I had the idea that this was going to be the generic villainess story with the MC being OP and showing up the "Heroes", and while that did happen at first, there are considerable developments that stray away from the formula. And while it's definitely not amazing at it, it dives into the political aspect of being an OP noble by exploring how the different factions of the kingdom seek to gain favour. I also enjoy the MC (The villainess) herself, seeing how she interacts with noble life and how she handles social situations provides decent comedy.

Mixed Feelings
Level 99 Villainess is very generic with the exception of the antics, interactions & internal dialogue of the stoic, kuudere, socially inept, gamer brain main character Yumiella. While her character has its faults, she significantly carries the show and therefor if you aren’t entertained by the aforementioned, this show will likely fall flat & become a pile of nothing.

Everything that the show offers outside of the main character is shallow, generic, rapid & formulaic to the point there’s nothing else to latch onto if she doesn’t interest you. Anyone who is not the main character is severely underdeveloped, these side characters either regress or receive ...

Started off good, all my favorite tropes, misunderstood villainess is a game where they’re trying to fix the plot and then they redeem themselves etc etc… but then got boring. Pretty shallow level writing, not much character development
It’s a very cliche trope (which I like) but I didn’t really get attached to any of the characters. Even the lead kinda bored me. Art was fine , but what was the point.
If you want a casual kind of filler show, this would be good, but if ur looking for something exciting, try something else
How much do I need to write jeez
