I'm bothered by the fact that they took Taishou on their trip with them, I can't imagine how stressed he would have been had he been a real cat.

As a Yuru Camp fan, the fact that this episode includes visits to iconic locations from that story was incredibly exciting! Once again, I must say that hearing Aoi Koga, Ueda Reina, Tono Hikaru, and Mikawa Haruna all in the same anime is magnificent, music to my ears.

This episode is one big Yuru Camp reference. Heck, even the background for the road trip is the in-universe Yuru Camp manga is about to receive an anime adaptation.

Such a fun way to do a callback to YuruCamp in this episode. We got to see our 4 and a half main girls and the "real" locations they're at. Timing of the source manga makes sense since the first season of YC was set to air in 2018 when this was first getting written

I enjoyed the first two episodes but for some reason, this episode bored me. There's no purpose other than sight seeing because of Haruno's manga pilgrimage. It could have been like an episode of Zatsu Tabi but the execution is so-so. Perhaps I like it better when this show is about photography rather than doing too random of nonsense.

Being a big Yuru Camp fanboy and having had the opportunity to visit the locations of Yuru Camp, this episode was the best of both worlds. Great Yuru Camp cameos and reliving said visited locations. I was expecting some references and cameos throughout this season, but to get a whole episode dedicated to it, I couldn't ask for more!

Such a funny, cute episode! The most hilarious part of the episode was the infinite-fuel car, which somehow don't require any kind of refueling, apparently.

The car aside, glad Haruno developed her driving skills, both 4 safety reasons and 4 the pilgrimage. About the pilgrimage, really happy for Haruno since she was able to accomplish her goal of visiting all the manga places in real life, whether that was for references to assist her manga or for other purposes.

Haruno aside, I don’t get why she brought the cinephoto club with her, but I guess they got some good pictures and videos using their cameras as well. So, all’s well that ends well. Loved the episode! Excited for what the girls are going to show us or do for us from this point onwards!

Yuru camp ♡

I really loved this episode. The best one so far!
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Gotta love all the Laid-Back Camp references there as it was bound to come up seeing that it is by the same person who did that show. Haruno sure chose a great show for doing a pilgrimage for, and there's no question she's into it.

I KNEW IT, I FUCKING KNEW IT, WE GOT YURU CAMP CAMEOS! It was just a matter of time until they did this, and I'm so happy, it confirms that both series are in the same universe, so we could see more cameos or even full-on collabs in the future! Afro is God.

I absolutely love this episode, peak.
And I absolutely love Haru and Shikishima ❤️❤️

OMG this episode cracked me up with the random cameos and callbacks. Hilariously shameless.

Wonder why they changed the name of the manga (on the volume she held up) though? Does someone else own the anime rights to the name?

When they watched the sunset, and Satsuki asked Haruno if they could stay for longer 🥹 everything about that scene was so perfect. It had my tearing up. It was so nice to see the girls really appreciate the beauty of nature.

As a huge Yuru Camp fan, this episode was perfect. I got so excited when Haruno found out about the anime adaptation. Didn’t expect them to go on the trip though! All the cameos made me really happy, and it was great to be brought back to the places Nadeshiko and the others went 🥰

I seriously love this anime so much, and I already know that it’s gonna be one of my favorites this season (and maybe even this year). Can’t wait for the new episode!

It's funny - There are a number of people getting frustrated with witch apprentice Meg over in Aru Majo ga Shinu Made for not demonstrating any recognition of a sense of urgency and picking up the pace in her collection of crystallized tears. Meanwhile, I was frustrated with the girls this episode for seeming to be taking a distinct lack of...photographs and video footage from their visited locations when that is supposed to be their entire purpose.

I did enjoy the Yuru Camp character cameos, especially because it's very rare, at least in my experience, when we get to see full-blown characters from one anime series appear in another however briefly (usually there might be a passing verbal reference to the show and its characters or plot, a cameo of something more abstract and inanimate like a vehicle or symbol, or just the creation of a one-time new character modeled off of them as a parody).

Even if it is more of a fourth wall break and audience nod more than something which makes rational consistent sense in-universe, since in the universe of Mono, Yuru Camp is a fictional series that's an existing manga and soon to be anime, just as in ours (if a little behind in the timeline, but that makes me think that Mono may be set in 2017 when its manga first came out, two years after the Yuru Camp manga's debut and placing it the year before the Yuru Camp anime series premiered). So given that, Rin and Nadeshiko and co. can't really be here frolicking around town. I think that it would have made more coherent sense if Yuru Camp wasn't fictional - i.e. it didn't exist in this (the Mono) universe. Then the groups of girls maybe could actually run into each other in a future episode.

@luinthoron - But, what they are searching for is the house of the MC for Mattari Camp, not the in universe house of Nadeshiko that actually exist, but it’s somewhere else(since the character herself is there). The similarities in it’s design to the one in this world’s fictional manga is purely coincidental. *wink *wink.

I guess this episode was really testing how many references it could make to the author's previous work. This anime is better when it stands on its own legs though. One of the better moments is when Satsuki asks to stay just a little longer on the mountain.

0:01 Tent

5:25 Referencing Yuru Camp.

6:56 Camping
6:59 Car + Motorbike

7:43 Lake Motosu campsite with view of Mt Fuji
8:15 Girl sleeping on bench like Nadeshiko
8:25 Same campsite building
8:33 volume 1 of "Mattari Camp"?
Beach packed in summer...

9:03 location map

9:24 Rin on motor scooter
9:37 same dogs

10:24 Was this Rin's house? Yeah it is for the best to not base it on a real house... Or you could get a case like the pizza on the roof from Breaking Bad.

10:45 Chiaki

11:31 Madeshiko's house?
12:00 Lake Shibire?

16:04 aoi + akari

19:16 dog souvenirs

22:29 the live camera Rin showed up on?

The main club members just don't have much going on to engage the audience, but they are also supposed to be the main focus of the story. Hard to describe, but so far it's felt like a lot of just "things happening" without conveying the human *feeling* of doing those things like Yuru Camp did so well. And the characters' interactions with each other feel shallow somehow.
Yeah... Except maybe for that moment Satsuki asks to stay on the mountain a little longer.

I thought so when reading the first volume of the manga as well, but to be blunt this is just self-indulgent to the point of being obnoxious. Haruno being such an overt self-insert for Afro was already distracting enough, but this just takes it a step too far.

I think the first two episodes showed that this series has enough to stand on its own two feet that it didn't need to do this and completely break my immersion, so this was very disappointing. And I'm saying that as someone who adores Yuru Camp, I didn't need this pandering: cameos I would have no problem with, but making the whole episode overtly about Yuru Camp is too much.

Apart from a rather funny scene, Sacchan and Kiriyama having different aspirations (though Shikishima sure dives into her own thoughts), but Akiyama retaking her driver course certainly is the spark of something new for the mangaka...to want to take a manga pilgrimage tour. And this idea coming from her editor, it is a new idea to take on the work.

That idea, literally is Yuru Camp in a nutshell exploring its manga setting for Sacchan and the gang, though Akiyama sure is persistent with her alcohol. And yet, the last area of the Yashajin Pass which has been closed off as a conservative area, which is also said to be haunted, sure scared the girls alright (except Shikishima).

But with everyone asleep, and Akiyama getting lost to reach yet another location, yelp. At least they are being refreshed, day and night, with stomachs bellowing for food, traversing through clear and tough terrains.

Yup, if anything, this episode just goes to show how closely integrated mono is with Yuru Camp, being from the same author. A collab episode, this is one.

Well-paced episode to get much in. There were points where it could be seen as a milking attempt for Yuru Camp cameos (which were all really nice to see) it managed to do it's own thing in keeping with Mono's story. Too bad Haru couldn't split it up over 2 weekends. Can't always fully appreciate the places they visit when it's rushing to vo to them all, hence why the "Can we stay just a bit longer?" was so touching.

Apparently she was featured on the cover of what was supposed to represent the Yuru Camp manga (which was titled differently), which Satsuki (I think it was Satsuki) picked up a copy of and was briefly looking at in one of the stores.
