Not better yet unfortunately. I texted my friend whom I've spent most of the weekend with and she also got sick haha. It's mostly a very bad cold but hayfever also got me bad. Gonna take a good warm shower and hopefully my nose and head will open up a little bit before bed.

I'm still a Tokyo-girl at heart, but rural Japan is soooo beautiful. I'm supposed to go hiking on the Nakasendo trail later this year, but my friend is in a situation so we need to await some of her things before it's 100% sure we're going to Japan.

Ah, but there's nothing wrong with a good chicken, rice or pennes meal! I hope you'll find some nice foods when trying to expand the list!

Oof that's really warm. Good luck! lol
That must have been so scary. I really don't understand why people are so careless. It's not that hard to pay attention while on the read. People are just becoming so selfish :(

Do you happen to know the name of the Jinshi and Maomao standee set, I'm so curious what they look like haha.

Oh right, tomorrow is already Maomao day! I should be lucky and get to leave work an hour early, I still worked overtime earlier this week despite being sick lol. First thing I'll do when I get home is crash on the couch and watch Maomao~ Must witness the downfall of Shenmei!

SUPER LATE REPLY AAH. I had a busy weekend and then got sick.

Matsumoto is super pretty, surrounded by the Japanese alps. Everywhere you go, there's always gorgeous mountains to be seen. Definitely something I didn't realize when I lived there. My #1 uni of choice was in Tokyo, #2 in Nagoya and #3 in Kyoto, but because I had some last minute changes regarding my lessons and study specialisations they had to toss me in the only exchange group that was still available which resulted into me going to Matsumoto. Got a bit salty and spent all my weekends out of town, usually by going to Tokyo to attend idol concerts and events haha. But in 2023 I returned to Matsumoto for the first time after my study abroad period in 2015-2016 and it's so beautiful. I wish younger-me had seen that beauty but I was too busy being salty.

You're mom will probably see benefits in teaching you how to cook as well right? So you can make dinner for your parents ;) hahaha
But I understand, failing is never fun.

Cold sea water sounds so good right now. We are hitting 30 degrees as well this week, but in Greece it's probably a lot warmer already.
I had no idea Greece was known for 'bad' driving. Dutch people are quite okay I think, they are just always in a hurry and super impatient and rude :/ But when I was in France and my friend drove me around Bordeaux I noticed the driving there was a lot different, also very careless. It's so scary, I wish people who care more.

GUESS WHO BOUGHT THE OKITA FIGURE BY THE WAY. It might arrive tomorrow, or on Monday already. I haven't really thought about where to display him yet but I'm sure I'll find a nice place.

A little bit of Maomao talk; that final scene hurt my heart. Those poor children. I hope Maomao finds a way to safe them, if that's even still possible. Shenmei is THE WORST. I can't believe she managed to get their 'community' in such a bad condition (with war coming etc) that Loulan saw no other option than to poison them?!

Yes, not everyone got along with their tutor which was a bit sad. My best friend didn't click with her tutor so I often took her with me on my so called 'tutor dates'. We had to fill out forms beforehand so they tried to match people with similar interests, but it doesn't always work out. The tutors did get paid for tutoring activities though to motivate them to at least try their best. I still try to meet up with my tutor every time I go to Japan. She moved to Tokyo now so it's easier to meet. We used to live in Matsumoto which is a bit of a travel from Tokyo.

I'll suport you on your kitchen adventure when the time comes haha. Honestly I didn't know a thing about cooking or baking until I was 20 I think. I had to learn it because I started living in a student house for uni around that time.

Oh no, such a long travel. But I hope the travel time was worth it! Congrats on finishing your exams!
Are you planning on taking driving lessons? I got a driving permit a couple of years ago (I'm a late bloomer lol, too scared to start when I was 18, I only started taking lessons when my 6 years younger sister started). I still deal with driving anxiety though. My parents recently got a different car and now it goes a bit better. But it's really nice to be able to use the car in times of need.

I might have favorited the figurine. If it's still up by Monday I might have to take action. Saw the seller is based in the Netherlands as well. My Frieren figurine is probably lonely too. Sounds like a good reason to get her a friend.

Baking always sounded intimidating to me, but honestly, if you just stick to a good recipe it should turn out fine! Chiffon cake fits the Black Butler theme. I actually first had it in Japan. During my study abroad, all of us got appointed a 'tutor', a Japanese student from the university we attended, who would guide us and help with formal things (like registering with the municipality and such), but it was also mandatory to see each other at least one hour a week and do a learning-related activity. My tutor was a super sweet girl who totally loved baking and she was so good at it. We often spent our tutor sessions baking/cooking and called it 'learning about each other's culture'. Her cakes were amazing. One night she made an earl grey chiffon cake and it was so good I can never forget it. After 10 years I finally found the courage to try baking one myself haha.

I'll probably watch Maomao on Momday since I'll be away from home pretty much all weekend, but I can't wait!

So I went to Vinted... and saw an Okita figurine... and I don't NEED a 25 euros Okita figurine... but it's Okita ;w;
xLoesje Jun 6, 11:41 AM
That sounds so good, maybe I'll try baking some one day! Should probably wait for the season then haha. I just baked an Early Grey Chiffon Cake~ Baking is such a relaxing activity after a work week.

I don't think I would survive another Fruits Basket adaptation. The season I'm watching right now is emotionally tough, I can't stop crying after the episode I just watched lol. I wanted to watch Maomao but I think I have to finish this show first before I can watch anything else. Why are all character in this show suffering so bad, my poor babies.

Yay for first Hakuouki merch! That must have been so exciting! Makes me wanna check out Vinted for Hakuouki merch too hehe
xLoesje Jun 6, 10:51 AM
Ahh I get it! Greece Christmas desserts look so good, do you have any recommendations?
My hometown doesn't do a lot of decorating either during Christmas, but most of my friends live in bigger cities and there it usually looks cozy!

Of course he is in Black Butler haha. I checked if he's in Fruits Basket but no, guess this is one of the exceptions then.

Oh I had no idea Vinted was region locked. But I guess it kinda makes sense with their shipping services. It's fun to look around on it though, there's still little steals on it anyways! I recently got a Pokémon game for my 2DS for super cheap, nowadays those games sell for so much money so the minute I saw it as such a 'low' price I had to get it.

Winter birthday! I'm also a Winter-born, but my favorite season would be Autumn. Specifically the few weeks were the trees are having pretty colors, it's still relatively warm and bright outside and it doesn't rain every minute of the day. The time leading up to Halloween I guess. Wait, you don't do anything big for Christmas? I personally don't do anything religious, but I absolutely love decorating my tree and apartment, and me and my mom go to little Christmas markets/fairs almost every weekend. It's such a cozy and fun season~ And me and my dad have a tradition of watching those cringe typical Christmas movies leading up the Christmas itself.

Oh my god, I forgot he was in Hakuouki too! He also gave his voice to Uta no Prince-sama which I think was great! There is nothing this man can't do you. You will find him in pretty much any Anime. Is he also in Black Butler? lol

Selling regret is the worst </3 On Vinted I usually only have struggles with French buyers. Since they always want a bargain even if the price I put down already was a bargain.
xLoesje Jun 4, 12:41 PM
What is your favorite season? Summer sounds really tough. When it's cold outside you can kind of dress yourself in multiple layers, coats and a blanket, but when it's warm there's only so much you can take off before it becomes inappropriate. In my previous apartment, my bedroom was down stairs/under the ground so even during the summer, the temperature was pretty okay inside. In my new apartment my bedroom is upstairs, right underneath a biiig window and spring already had me dying. But I have a little table fan prepared to bring out when it gets to the worst part of summer.

Mamo-chan is such an icon, he has so many big roles under his name!

Selling collections is such a pain. You have to take pictures of everything, upload it somewhere, add descriptions, communicate with potential buyers or annoying people at websites like Vinted who try to downplay the price at any time =.=; I downsized my kpop and jpop collection last year and it took so many hours, I don't even want to think about it anymore x__x Better hold on to your babies haha
xLoesje Jun 4, 11:45 AM
Ohh enjoy your personal anime beach episode~ We were going strong on summer-y temperatures as well but this week it's turning more into fall weather with lots of rain and grey skies. I'm having a bachelorette party this weekend for one of my friends but it's going to rain all day, such a bummer.

I totally agree with you. Unhinged watches can be so fun and relaxing. In that case I fully recommend Vampire Knight! But aside of the quality, Miyano Mamoru is voice acting in it so it will be fun anyways. If you ever want a more serious vampire-themed anime (not romance though) I would recommend Shiki to your never ending watchlist. It's such an underrated anime, as in, it seems like barely anyone knows it.

Oh no hahaha, at one point where do you even leave all those books? I got a big box earlier this year to gather stuff for a garage sale later this year. It's already filled with quite some books and I plan on reading a few more so I can add them to the box as well lol. There's only so much space in my apartment, gotta make room for new interests. Luckily that problem doesn't come with digital content!
xLoesje Jun 4, 9:19 AM
The beaches in Greece probably look super pretty! The beaches here look pretty whack haha. When I watch beach episodes in anime, since most of them have at least one, it always looks so fun though. Hanging around with friends, a bit of swimming, sun bathing and everything.

Is Vampire Knight any good... that is a real difficult question. I feel like it's an anime classic, and when I first watched it I was really into it. But that was maybe 15 years ago haha. It is a bit of fujoshi bait and the plot gets pretty f*cked up in ways you probably don't expect. But, it got me intrigued enough to binge-read the entire manga last year because I wanted to know more about the lore. I would recommend it as a guilty pleasure watch I think, if you're into vampires and romance, but not necessarily a quality watch.

I'm not sure if I said this before, if I did, sorry; but the other day I was watching videos of (book) people who say that they will stop buying new stuff and finish their current unread books. And some of them had like 700 unread books on their shelves?! I always hope it doesn't get that bad for me hahaha.
xLoesje Jun 1, 10:23 AM
That sounds really nice! I only get to see the sea once or twice a year if I get lucky. But I have to admit that I'm a bit scared to swim in open water. Might have watched too many infovideos on the deep sea haha. Living close to the sea is definitely something to treasure and enjoy though! Both a morning and afternoon swim sound great.

Anime ending is the worst, it always leaves a void. There are plenty of new anime to fill that void though, but some anime hit different. I've been watching the new Pokémon anime for over two years now, once they finish, my Saturday mornings will be so weird...

I saw you gave Vampire Knight a little try by the way. But it didn't grab your attention I think? hahaha

It's based on a book series yes, after Netflix canceled the show I bought the boxset of the books to find out what would happen, but I haven't read them yet. Classic. Hahaha. Anne is a really fun character though, she talks A LOT, but she has a real good heart.
xLoesje Jun 1, 9:08 AM
It really is, swimming is such a good deal as well, you move all of your muscles but it barely feels like you have to give as much effort as with weight lifting etc! The Netherlands is also all about the sea and water, but since I grew up and live in the South, I don't get to see the sea a lot lol.
I think a lot of gyms are build around the show-off type unfortunately. Gym will never be my favorite thing but I'm glad I found an acceptable place.

Jinshi abs you've got my attention! But I can also watch Maomao uncovering mysteries forever. I really like the dynamics between all characters a lot. So I'm surely in for more seasons as well, as long as they don't drag it like you said.

Hmm, I'm a bit in doubt whether I would recommend Anne Shirley or not. Have you ever watched Anne witn an E on Netflix? I really adored the Netflix adaptation, but as usual they of course canceled the show after 3 seasons. The anime has clearly used the Netflix series for inspiration, the characters look so much like the actors... but they are really rushing the story. Every episode, Anne gets a year older. But I do think that they will go beyond the storyline of the Netflix series and that's why I'm watching. It's nostalgia and curiousity. But the art is pretty and I like the voice acting!
xLoesje Jun 1, 6:01 AM
Yes I totally get that going to gym isn't everyone's cup of tea. I started going about two years ago for medical reasons, and the gym I attended at the time was specialized in exercise for (chronic) pain and stuff, so the people going to that gym aren't the usual cool boys who just want to lift weights and show off their muscles. Last year I switched to another gym because (again on doctor's advice) I had to incorporate swimming into my routine. Now I focus mainly on swimming and there's mostly super old people in the pool. Because the gym has a pool, the subscription is more expensive as well so the amount of people going there is okay, not super crowded, and I don't feel watched or anything.

There better won't be a cliffhanger. But it does feel like there will be a third season. I think the light novels are still going, though I'm not sure. Jinshi is going to be so cool when he goes full Moon Prince style hehe, already looking forward to that!

Oh I love a good relaxing anime. Right now that's Anne Shirley for me. It's so wholesome, lighthearted and cute ♡

Once I finish the final season of Fruits Basket I might give Ouran a go!
xLoesje Jun 1, 2:21 AM
You get to keep each other in balance that way. My little sister is also usually the one who brings her friends back home etc.

Running is something I could never do, but walking is nice. I also like going to the gym from time to time just to use the treadmill, then I can combine walking with watching shows on Netflix.

Just watched the new Maomao! War is unfolding and we only have 4 episodes left aah. Shenmei makes me so angry. The short scene in her room with those intoxicated two people on the bed, Suirei brushing Loulans hair like a servant, it all felt so bad ugh. And can she stop abusing Suirei please T_T I hope Jinshi will arrive soon to save the day! But Maomao will probably think of a good plan as well in the meantime. Can't wait to see how everything wraps up.

I heard Honey-senpai is quite similar to Momiji from Fruits Basket so I'll look forward to that once I get around to watching Ouran!
xLoesje May 31, 1:16 PM
Oh wow! My little sister also has a good tolerance. Must be nice hahaha.

It's the third time me and my dad participated. The first time we went for 10, last year for 15 and this time 20. But I don't think I'll go beyond 20 next year. It's a fun local event though, got to see places in and around my hometown I otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Maomao is easier to type lol! Ouran High School Host Club is also on my PTW! Please let me know how you think about it! Sounds like a good reward for your hard work on your exam!
