What happened to this anime? This second season is just a waste of time so far.

It is like MC is a completely different character. It is boring. A weak story line. All characters lack of personality. Things happen just because. Everything good from the first season just don't exist here. They just keep adding characters that don't really matter. The main storyline from season 1 just doesn't exist. It's not really going anywhere. He is just wandering around and chilling. A fight here and there.
Animation also took a toll. It wasn't really good before, but now is just bad.

7 episodes and nothing ... really happened. I don't see why keep watching this. People should avoid this.

The Double voice while talking would have been fine for a few Minutes in the first episode. but after that it has just gotten very annoying. and it pulls away from the show. Makes it very hard to concentrate on what's being said in the show because it's being overlaid as they are talking. It is a very dumb decision, but. the directors and animators of this enemy to use the dual audio for more than the first few minutes of it being shown that it's being translated. Whoever's idea it was to overlay the voice acting. multiple times needs to be fired and read. ... and rethink what the fuck they're doing.

Edit: After watching all 12 episodes. I would like to revise the score of this anime. Season 2 of this anime is really bad, forget everything I said below, that's just the initial experience. My sincere advice to you is to read the light novel to follow the story instead of watching this part 2.

Seirei Gensouki is ... back with Season 2 and it's not just storyline that we get used to in the Isekai, our people are waiting forward even more new turning of events. Again, we meet a powerful main character as he scours the incredible adventure-filled magical land while hashing out some dirty little secrets from his past. Despite its many clichés, however, the anime does an awful lot to keep you hooked thanks to some lush storytelling and strong sense of movement.

I proudly score this anime a 10/10 for the simplicity of what is such an awesome story. How do the parts go with one another supports your overall easy day view of a film that's not particularly hard to follow. The story works in a way that can satisfy not only new viewers but also anime fans of old.

Display wise, this season is fine and adequate art-qualities ( particularly in character expressions) with decent animation. The sound design needs to be more captivating as the music (background) doesnt always set for tension. Similarly the character development is a little disjointed too. There are characters that stand out, and others seem like they needed more attention to fully flesh them out.

Probably the most intriguing aspect of this season is its hints at digging into events in Main's past, long shrouded in mystery. The story keeps moving forward and the stakes get higher, mysteries deepen further with more rising action. If you cherish the first season for its thriller adventures combined with emotional instances, then be ready not to miss out on what is happening now.

Overall, Seirei Gensouki 2nd Season offers a pack of laughter and tears both litigating its fans. This season has something for everyone, whether you are an isekai fan or not and there is nothing like a good anime to sink into!

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, Season 2 - What a dumpster fire of a sequel...how could this be the result of a work that despite being potentially average as it is, sink its teeth into something even worse?

Back in Summer 2021, a little show by the name of Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles came out, and despite all of its inherent flaws, I actually found that if you try to open the can of worms that is all of its cut content from the now 26-volume-long LN, there is an intriguing setup that novelist Yuri Kitayama had set up for the adaptations, let alone Season 1 itself ... which was quite the journey that I had 3 years ago reading both the LN and manga forms (though please dismiss the manga as Season 2's content is not brought there) that had the deepest riches of depth in its storywriting that was elaborately interesting, filled to the brim with potential to come when the anime got to that point.

And so it is, fast forward 3 years later to this Fall's sequel, and while the pacing tactic of the anime adaptation is still the same as the prequel, the content itself...is a whole other story that for better or for worse, was a slog to sit through thinking that the next 12-episode set would provide even more mystery to what Season 1 had perfectly set up towards, only to have it be thrown out into the garbage bin for choices that push more of its audience away from the series.

With Season 2 focusing on Volumes 4 and 6 to 8 of the LN, this part of the LN is unfortunately quite the slow burn as the plot now focuses on the 6 Wise Gods' prophecy of the Heroes being summmoned into the fantasy world. This only meant that Kirito-wannabe Rio a.k.a Haruto Amakawa's friends from Japan have joined him in the fray and not knowing what was going on, to connecting the dots between different groups of people that has or had an influence on his life, Haruto's past life, rather. Ayase Miharu, the Sendo siblings of Aki and Masato, as well as the Heroes of Hiroaki Sakata (assigned to Beltrum) and Satsuki Sumeragi (assigned to Galarc), all of which are primary people for Haruto to trace his past and link them to the present with the group of people that had similar experiences from Season 1 (i.e. Suzune Endo as Latifa), it's pretty much a Grimms' Notes version of the backstories that link everyone related towards Haruto in one way or another.

For sure this piece of the content SHOULD be interesting, but as you know that anime adaptations tend to cut a lot of content, and Season 2 is no different from its prequel, though I'd say that this portion of the story is quite straightforward to understand despite the loosening of the narrative for more down-to-earth moments that still has threats continuing thereafter to bring the wrench into Haruto's plans for the foreseeable future. This part here that Season 2 covers, is unfortunately, not the best it has to offer.

What made things worse is with the entire production itself. Back then, TMS Entertainment wasn't the finest studio around with a big budget to work with, but yet still can create works that don't falter, and are still decent at the end of the day. Even if Season 1 had production cooperation from another studio (which was the somewhat competent WAO World), it wasn't this bad, not even with its own in-house Studio 6 department that can actually churn out shows with good production cycles. Oh boy, not with Season 2 here despite having series director Osamu Yamasaki on the seat, while letting a no-name director handle the reigns for everything else, with the novelist herself having to help out in the storyboarding and series-scripting, all while the production is seriously hampered to the dozen that it bears all the marks of a cheap, low-quality animation.

If anything else, the deteriment follows with the music, as now both Aguri Oonishi's OP and Nanaka Suwa's ED are songs that you can just skip and pretend like they never exist. This is sad because Season 1's OST was virtually perfect, let alone Aguri Oonishi's Season 1 ED which was a great song, miles better than the OP that's found here. Oh, and that dual-audio voiceover language act? It's seriously jarring, and for me to say that Mushoku Tensei did leaps better than this, something's clearly wrong.

Oh, dear God, what did we ever do to deserve this blatant downgrade of a sequel? If Season 1 was already this bad, then Season 2 here is really the nail in the coffin for the series when it comes to its anime adaptation. I held out hope that for much of what the prequel was inherently bad at, there was a silver lining that could get me back to actually liking Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles again. But with how Season 2 turned out, oh boy...you're better off reading the LN instead for good measure.

Simply unbelievable...watch Season 1, avoid Season 2 and read the LN at your own pleasure.

The first season for me was good, but average. This season on the other hand really allured me with the story telling and character development. Yes its an isekai so they're going to milk certain things and that's ok. I don't understand why so many people gave it bad reviews. Can no one be happy in the creativity behind new things? Its honestly better than the other "brain rot" we've been getting this year. Most other isekais are literally a copy and paste of other ones, yet no one critiques them for it. Put some respect behind this work!

Furthermore, In my opinion this one stands ... tall above the rest in my eyes. It has a unique story/characters that make you absorbed in what they're thinking and not just overpowering everything because they're "op" (over powered). I really enjoyed this series i hope to see more from it in the future. I wanted to share more but im afraid it would spoil some details so please enjoy this anime! it was very good and i highly recommend it to those looking to be enticed by such isekais. At times i had myself thinking " i wounder what i would have done in that situation". Some parts were oddly represented, moreover i understand how isekais can be since most of them have struggled with such aspects.

Lastly, In regards to the pacing it did feel a little "pushed" at times but not enough to make me complain about it or even grab my attention to the fact. Maybe its because i haven't yet read the manga or something, to me it seemed fine. People need to realize they are bound to 12 episodes so they will do what they must. Yes it had some minor problems though it wasn't enough to ruin an experience such as this. In the end people will always find a way to look for problems instead of enjoying what's right in front of them. A wise man once said "It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness". One of the best isekais to release this year! please give it a chance.

I quite liked the first season, and was really looking forward to the second season, but it turned out to be quite a disappointment!

The most annoying thing is the Dub audio is mixed when talking, I know they are from two different worlds and have different languages, but it shouldn't be mixed either!
Actually, I think just 1 episode is enough to let the audience know that they speak different languages, so there's no need to use dual voices for too long.
But unfortunately it continued until episode 5, to the point where I wanted to stop watching it because it was too annoying to hear the ... double voice!
I hope this dual voice is removed for the Blue Ray version, otherwise it will be the worst history of using dual voice.
And of the many anime I've watched, this is the first time someone has used this method, and emphasized too much that they have a different language.

The next flaw in the storyline, for some scenes there are some that are made too slow! I hate the part where they always delay time!
For example, when the situation is critical in battle, these characters can still make formal conversation as if they are not in a critical situation!

The fight is relatively simple, one hit, it's over immediately, if we look back at the first season, the MC fought very bravely and epically, but not in the second season.
Especially when you see him hesitating between helping or not, instead staying silent and waiting for the others to chat, one of the scenes that wastes time and is annoying.

The addition of characters also provides additional minus points!
I don't understand why there are so many Japanese people summoned to Isekai?
Worse still, there are those who are called Heroes among them, so why did they come? Isn't the MC enough? While the strength of the Heroes here is not that much.
So having the title of Hero is not enough if you look at it from a strength perspective!

For the graphic quality, I praise this anime, it still has good quality, and nothing has been reduced from the first season.
However, from the shortcomings that I have mentioned earlier, this anime is quite disappointing, especially the unfinished ending that makes the audience curious about what happens next.
Will there be a third season?

Out of all the anime that is ongoing this season. This has been the one I have looked forward to the most, yet as the episodes have gone on I have lost a lot of interest in this show. When I finished season 1, it was 2 weeks before season 2 was set to release so to say I was hyped was an understatement. My initial rating for season 1 was a 10/10 and I still stand by that. Each episode was full of suspense. Seeing Haruto's beginning and literally being on the verge of death. It was such an incredible start and every episode ... of Seirai had me hooked. Not to mention there was a lot of characters that I enjoyed from the very beginning and I feel like it did a great job introducing us to some of the villains from the start. The Main MC with a horrible past also didn't turn into a douchebag even though he had every right to do so. It was great. That was one of the things I disliked about shield hero. The main MC was really cold in season 1, even to those that hadn't done anything wrong. Haruto wasn't like that.

Season 2 however, to say it has fallen flat would be a nice way of putting it. It has been nothing short of disappointing, boring, devoid of character. It has been nothing but 1 big disappointment. It almost feels like the creators have forgotten what they was even wanting to do with the show because as of writing this review, I am currently up to date with the series and not once can I think of anything note-worthy or remotely interesting because it has either been meetings (the slime isekai effect) or doing whatever. Very very very little plot progression has actually taken place thus far and it is so sad to see. I can let it go for at least the first episode or two because most new seasons of an anime don't start off crazy, but after 8 episodes I was expecting something to have happened by now.

I also find it frustrating that Haruto literally will not tell anyone about his past. It's not like it will effect anything major. He's literally living with people from his past life and yet they're still going with "I have a past life, I'm just not going to tell anyone" because why? It's a shame. I do like Haruto, as an MC I find him to be super likable, but his constant need to keep things a secret just wares thin after a while. In season 1 Haruto was so focused on his goal and was a nice guy that didn't take shit from no one. In season 2 he feels way too relaxed and not really bothered to continue his journey. It's almost like he has come too complacent.

Maybe the manga is more fast pace and they've chosen to adapt the slowest bit of the anime, but getting through season 2 has honestly been a slog and I don't know why I'm still watching it. Unless the final few episodes go absolutely crazy I can't see myself watching a season 3 as watching this season has been a complete waste of time. If you're reading this review after finishing season 1. Just skip this season, I promise you won't miss ANYTHING of importance. It's basically all filler.

The second season of Spirit Chronicles is so painfully slow. After 12 episodes, not much progress has been made. I don't expect Spirit Chronicles to be an amazing show. The first season was completely average and inoffensive; not bad but not good either. Just perfectly passable.

I am not exaggerating when I say the content value of 1-2 episodes was stretched into 6 episodes. It wasn't for a good reason either. Most of it was spent on dialogue that was just empty pleasantries and formalities. A lot of words were said but at the same time nothing of value was communicated. Only after 6 ... entire episodes do the newly introduced characters finally finish introducing themselves to each other and are up to speed. The show tries to add dramatic tension between the characters by having none of them ask any obvious questions. It seems like they all want to remain in the dark for as long as possible, which is a factor in why it takes them 6 F***ING EPISODES to finish sharing basic information about each other.

The rest of the season isn't any better either. Spirit Chronicles has always had the nagging issue of wasting your time on formalities. You can skip the first 10 seconds of every conversation would have barely progressed forward. It's always an endless loop of "Excuse me if I may I apologize may I please ask that you blah blah blah." The second season takes it to a whole new level where even during the action, nobody has any sense of urgency. Even in the middle of a very heated battle, the characters are just leisurely walking around. Sometimes, they even start their stupid long winded conversations IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLE. Haruto kills a few enemies and then makes sure to stand there receiving the thanks from the villagers as he slowly and politely responds to each one of them, all the while everyone else around him is dying.

The last 3 episodes finally had some main plot progress at a decent pace. But after 9 episodes where absolutely nothing happens, it's not nearly enough. Compared to season 1 which had multiple arcs and introduced many characters and regions, this is nothing.

The animation remains completely horrendous. The art style is still stupid with almost everyone having the same big round eyes or the slightly frowny ones. They still try to tease a romantic interest with LITERALLY every girl in the show. It was really hard to watch.

Finally, it is over. Although its first season was not great, I was looking forward to this anime, because nice drawings, somewhat good enough story and maybe some character development. Well, not anymore :))
I could talk about the animation, the sound design, CGI blending etc, but thats not important. I'll go to the problem. The writing for his season is sh*t! I don't know the source material and I don't care! The review is for this season.
It starts with new stuff happening. Good, bad, interesting, it doesn't matter. The author introduced new things. Thats a great way to use those said things to flush out ... more MC's character. More so if he has a past personal connection with them. How does he feels about it? How does the other party feels about him? And here starts the problem. We do get that, but only for just a bit. Because they need to keep it for the next season also, I'm sure. They need the drama to make it look interesting. And makes for good character development. Spoiler alert: none for him! (Maybe more towards character assassination.) We know what kind of person he is in the first episode. In the 12th one, he's exactly the same. He has no arc. Yes, stuff happens. But he remains the same. And that, obviously, is a good thing. Everybody loves watching the paint dry......
Next. Celia, same one-dimensional character. And annoying as sht. Aishia? I wont. Princess Flora? We are shown in a couple of shots how much she feels sorry and stuff. She could've had the greatest arc if done correctly. What a wasted opportunity man! Yes, we get a couple of nice things, but also a lot more of empty husks. Like I said, the story is sh*t. People talk, stuff happens, just so that the plot moves from point A to point B. The dialogue is horrendous. The action scenes are meh. The characters do stuff without logic. "Haruto, I sense demons there." one second later: "Hello, hello, thank you for helping, blah blah. Oh, no problem, blah blah." 30 seconds later (I checked):"btw, any demons inside the building? No, no, thats the room where the VIP are. Oh, OK." Really??? Wtf??? Is exchanging pleasantries more important than checking out? From him, or Liselotte. Its just a small example, with this happening the whole season. Like I said, character assassination.
Anyway, thats that. Forgive my rambling. I went spoiler free as much as possible, but the main point stands: this season is sh*t! I usually say something like "a polished, golden turd is still a turd", but those CGI monsters... Ugh...
I'll give this a 4 for the somewhat nice (and few) designs, animations and visual effects, somewhat tiny char developments here and there and.. dunno if something else.

What happened to this season?

The story is far from unique—it’s slow, predictable, and lacks the spark of creativity. While some might enjoy the slice-of-life approach, this season doesn’t do it justice. The dialogues are unnecessarily long, the humor leans too political to be universally funny, and any sense of adventure is completely absent.

The art style is a highlight—it’s visually appealing and well-crafted—but it feels wasted on such a sluggish and uninspired storyline. As for the characters, they’re one-dimensional at best. There’s little depth or growth; they don’t feel like real people, and their reactions to situations often come across as forced or unrealistic.

Ultimately, I can't ... recommend this season to fans of adventure or comedy. Those who enjoy slow-paced slice-of-life stories might find something here, but for me, it was a letdown. I was able to condense each episode into 10-12 minutes without feeling like I missed anything important—a testament to how much filler and unnecessary content this season includes.

We return to another world where Rio just has rescued Celia, as new people from Japan arrive in this unfamiliar world, now what do they bring with them?

In this season of Spirit chronicles do we once again follow Rio, but added to the cast is some new visitors from Japan. We follow them as Rio tries to uncover how and why they have been summoned to this world, with that he meets new people and gets deeper into the movements of this world.

For the plot of the season it is in itself pretty interesting, with Rio having to handle newcomers from his original homeworld, while ... trying to figure out what is happening in this situation. This gives some great insight into the larger world and the overarching plot that was hinted at in the previous season. The issue with the plot is that it feels slow or more like there isn’t happening enough, which sometimes makes it feel like there is barely anything happening in the scene. So the plot’s story in itself is pretty interesting with it building up to a larger story, but the pace and lack of details just makes it feel slow.

When it comes to the characters, are we once again seeing a similar situation as with the plot. There is laid some great groundwork for some interesting character plotlines and possible growth. But the actual character growth in the characters is limited, though it is there and fairly interesting, it is just hit by the same issue with not having enough being done in the season. With this is it just clear that the groundwork and possibilities were there, there was just not enough time put into it.

The animation of the show has sadly fallen a bit in quality since the last season, with there being used more still images and less details, especially out of combat. Monsters are also done with CGI which gives them a more monstress look, but also seems cheap.

When it comes to the show overall there are two things as repeating problems, the pacing and lack of details. Both plot and characters are affected by the slow pacing with the whole season moving slowly, and they don't make up for it by putting more plot and character details in to fill it out. This is also made worse by the animation having more still images with less details, so the viewer also visually doesn’t have enough going on.

To conclude it, the story and characters alone lives up to the first season and is bringing some great progression. The issue is just the pacing is too slow and the animation is slightly worse, which spoils the story and characters. So if you are interested in this story and want to know what comes after season one, then watch this, if you are not that interested, watch something else.

There is no better way to describe this second season. Sorry for my language but this second season is absolute dogshit, literal poop show.
First season wasn't that good either but it was watchable. Sometimes first season for an anime can be slow and take times for story building so that next season can be fast paced and good. But for this anime, it hasn't got any better but become worse. I know when we search for an anime on Mal, we want it to be good so that we can enjoy watching it. If we watch first season, then we will most likely watch ... second season too. But I will say please don't waste your time and save yourself from mental torture. I like to watch braindead trash Isekai but it's not really enjoyable at all. Just forget this anime and watch something else. I am not saying what's wrong with the 2nd season because other reviews have already pointed them out.

Season 1 of this anime was one of the first Isekais I watched; and though it was far from perfect, I considered it to be one of the better Isekais and looked forward to season 2. Season 1 had a great plot, tons of character growth, good pacing, and the exploration of character's backstories (besides the MC). Season 1 introduced many great mysteries and explored them quite a bit; none of those mysteries were explored again in season 2 and we got no new info/answers on anything from season 1. If you asked me what the plot of season 2 was, i couldn't tell you. ... If you asked me who half these characters were, I couldn't tell you. It seems like every 2 seconds or so a new character is introduced (female, of course, and immediately madly in love with the MC). The is in addition to the huge ensemble of returning minor characters from season 1 (again, all female, but that's besides the point).

This anime has no plot. They just wanted around, talk, run into people, and maybe there's a battle or two. I think there was ONE episode that was semi-decent, which is where the MC faces someone from his past and his backstory is brought up again. Besides that, there's nothing else; this whole season felt like filler.

I'm not even going to mention the HORRIBLE choice to have characters speak in two languages at once, on top of each other, making it impossible to understand what they're saying and distracting us completely. This isn't a one and done thing, it happens several times for far too long.

In summary, this sequel was a stain on the name of a Isekai that had a perfectly decent season 1. What a huge disappointment.

In terms of overall story, this seems like one of the better isekai out there. Instead of just following the typical isekai template like it did last season, now it is shaking things up with multiple isekaied people at various points in time and with varying circumstances, i.e. some summoned as heroes, some dragged along them by accident; some related to the MC in the previous world, some not at all; some reincarnated, some simply transported. The "local" characters and their world and politics are also interesting. It honestly makes me wanna see what'll happen.

However its execution as an anime seems very poor. The pace ... is annoyingly slow, with pointlessly dragged on minor fights and events trying to raise feelings of tension or drama out of nothing. We are two seasons in now, but it feels like we've just passed the story's intro and may need 5 more to get anywhere at the slow pace things are going.

The animation of monsters, special effects and combat moves is quite bad as well. It wouldn't have been an issue if the pacing was faster and we had more important things to focus on, but as it is now the show is purposely slowing down and directing our attention towards those bad fights and moves, making them stand out more and only hurting its situation.

An excellent title worth your time. This is an isekai with reincarnations and summons, where the hero grows stronger to seek revenge. I’ll keep it brief and focus on the three negatives I noticed.

First, the stretched-out second season. With the introduction of new characters, there’s a lot more talking. Sure, the dialogue is justified and even interesting, but compared to the first season, it feels kinda dull. The decision to introduce new characters and an entirely new arc in the second season—without any prior setup—feels a bit random.

Second, there are a few small inconsistencies you might miss or choose to ignore if you do notice ... them. For instance, some of the isekai’d characters immediately speak the local language, while others don’t. You could chalk it up to the “hero” status, but it’s a weak explanation.

Finally, the background music. The style didn’t sit right with me. It’s definitely dynamic and matches the pace of the story, but the vibe somehow cheapens the overall presentation.

Now for the good stuff.
A richly detailed setting, a great balance between political intrigue and action, top-tier fight scenes, animation, and visuals. The exploration of interpersonal relationships and moral dilemmas is surprisingly deep. The characters undergo significant growth over time, and their progress feels earned. The story plants a lot of hooks, and they pay off exactly as you’d hope.

The overarching goals and red threads of the plot flow smoothly through all the seasons, transitioning seamlessly between arcs. The first season is especially dynamic, gripping, and even a bit dark—it reminded me of the early episodes of the Arifureta.

The second season of this show definitely feels like a lesser product when compared to the first. Where the first season had notable shifts and important story beats, this sequel series feels much more generic and bland in comparison. We find little of what made the original story charming; there are no more interesting shifts in character perspective, no more changes of scenery beyond simple fantasy, nothing that made the first season stand out. The majority of the season follows a plot thread of a generic battle that makes this season feel more like the second cour of a single 2-part season, instead of the ... follow up to the first season. It feels so generic that the battle drags to the point of being almost unbearable, even when sped up. I don't doubt that some people enjoy it, but I don't think most people will find the generic battles to be that enjoyable or even engaging. This season only really makes the first season look better by comparison, however it does deliver on some important character interactions that were lacking in the first season. The climactic battle is something that while unsatisfying in its conclusion is an interesting continuation of plot points which were only touched on in the first part. Overall it is a lower quality product than the first season but still surpasses most others in the Isekai-slop front.

This season is a bit of a letdown compared to the first one. CGI is being used a lot, a lot of moments that kinda felt like filler, even tho I enjoyed them overall, I still wanted to see a bit more of progression or atleast more worldbuilding or something.

The plot continues to be generic, but with a few twists from time to time. Still easy to see what's gonna happen inside the action, which sometime was frustrating because I was right and I didn't want to be... well, sometimes I was wrong, but those things I was wrong about would have really been a ... big turn off for me. Most of the action is at the end of the season... and there seems to be a lack of budget. A really big lack of budget. A lot of moments suffered from that...

The conflicts are starting to shape up more and get more complex, alas not enough time to show them at least, I still have quite a few questions, more than when I started and had from season 1...

The MC goes strong with his default mode most of the time. Certain decisions are not explained very well, or I didn't really understand from their talks (the translation was kinda bugging me on this one, because even with my limited knowledge of Japanese I knew they were translating wrong certain parts and those changes can make a big impact). Quite a few good perfect moments. There aren't that many new characters, but the plays between them start to get interesting.

Story: 7 -- A bit too much nothing at the beginning, or it felt a bit like that to me. Still enjoyable overall, if you don't think too much of it.

Art: 7 -- There's only one nicely animated fight in this whole anime... the rest are pretty bad.

Music: 7 -- Nothing stuck out to me... gotta love the very energetic song that comes right when the episode finishes like something big is gonna happen, but nothing happens...

Characters: 8 -- Same characters mostly, but they progress and evolve a bit

Enjoyment: 7 -- Overall, I enjoyed it, but not as much as season 1...

I would only recommend it if you're curious about the direction of the story and where did out MC end and what is he up to. It is still a feels good, going nice and everything is gonna end good type of story, with generic plot lines and perfect moments, so if you want to see something like that, then this one is gonna be a goodish one. Just be aware that the quality compared to season 1 is a quite a bit worse... Hopefully season 3 will make up for it. It did make me feel like I should go read the light novels because it feels like the anime is taking off a bit too much from the source material (I cannot say for sure, as I am an anime only watcher right now), but I will wait for the light novel to finish first.

Well, sadly, whatever this anime had going on in the first season is mostly gone in this second one .

More importantly, we need to mount a rescue operation of this manga's author. Because after the first season hurt our eyes with that ... "animation" , there's no way they didn't kidnap the poor guy and are holding him in a dungeon so the same studio can crap a second season.

I couldn't believe it was possible when it was basically a slideshow for most of it's runtime, but they succeded . This second season looks way worse then the first .The main culprit has to be ... the CGI. It's everywhere. The monsters are CGI, the people are CGI, even the MC is CGI at this point. And it's the most atrocious CGI i've ever seen in an anime, and they are subpar on the average as it is. But with this one, it looks like it was put in front of a green screen before being animated with like 2 fps.

That being said, the story is once again pretty decent, although it did took a turn for the worse as well in some regards. Of course, the worse part is THE MC... You thought it was Kirito , but NO, IT WAS ME RIO,worse in every way you can imagine. They made him fully embrace the dollar store Kirito persona he's got going on.Only wearing kirito's black coat(i did say jacket in my first review my apologies) throughout the entire season. And slight spoiler since i really gotta call this... That whole not revealing to Miharu he's that Haruto... Only to name drop randomly at the end so she can have no time to think about it... Jesus Christ.

What can i say.... I can't recommend this second season unless you're invested in the story from the first season. Or you got a morbid curiosity. Otherwise just ... Don't .

I really liked the show. I hope there will be a season.

The reason I liked the show is because the MC has a special background which is ponctuatee with his special spirit. He also has an identity which is near to be revealed but isn't yet. Eventhough these are all clichés, these are the ones I like.
So please don't drop it, it's the anime that regroups all the clichés I like.

The show has also good animation and a good storyline (even if there weren't my favorite clichés).

The only reason that caused a 9 and not a ten is simply because I hoped that things would ... happen which didn't happen yet.
