Never written a review before, but Demon Lord 2099 genuinely earned it.
Straight up, it’s one of the only anime I’ve seen where I didn't feel like I was just tolerating half the cast to get back to the main guy. For once, a side character fight — specifically Hero Gram — didn’t kill my interest. The moment Gram shows up, he hits with decent enough main-character energy that it actually doesn't give filler vibes — which I think is pretty rare.

to bring in some modern elements in a way that somehow works in an amusing manner — and that anyone familiar with today's world can relate to.
Art style is for sure its strongest point. It defines the show’s setting and scene. The display of interfaces, the backgrounds, and the amount of effort in general — everything seems nicely detailed, very original too. It ain't ultra masterpiece-level, but it’s spread out consistently through the whole anime.
There’s a mix of traditional fantasy design and modern gloss that doesn’t clash. With the amount of art effort and originality, I feel they built a whole aesthetic.
The animation itself is consistently solid — smooth and fluid, especially during combat scenes. It keeps you engaged without ever feeling too boring. And even if some animations do rarely get a bit wacky, it never feels lazy or unfinished.
Music? Didn’t really catch me — felt generic but good generic. Nothing bad, just didn’t stand out.
I’ve seen anime rated higher that were way more generic, more lazy, and more boring in every category. This one’s got style, character, direction, and doesn’t waste your time. I’m not even here to talk about negatives, because I didn’t watch this with a reviewer’s lens.
This ain’t no 10/10 masterpiece. But it’s easily above 8. And for someone who’s seen a lot of anime and barely ever feels like writing about one, that should say enough.
